VIDEO: Can Vestas colleagues beat a Formula E driver?
We just couldn’t wait to see the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team get back to the racetrack in Berlin. So in the meantime, we challenged driver Stoffel Vandoorne to a different kind of race: build a Vestas LEGO® turbine faster than our employees! Find out who came out on top.
As Season Six of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship has been on hold for the last few months, the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team have still had racing on their minds – and so have we.
Throughout the spring, the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Drivers took part in the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge in support of UNICEF, a nine-week esports competition set in some of the world’s most iconic virtual Formula E locations. Driver Stoffel Vandoorne emerged victorious from the overall challenge after the final race in Berlin – could this be a glimpse of what’s to come in real life at the Berlin E-Prix?
While we wait to find out, we challenged Stoffel and some Vestas colleagues to an off-track challenge of our own.
Their mission? Build a Vestas LEGO® turbine in the fastest time possible. They also completed a few challenges along the way to test their knowledge of wind energy and Formula E – winning back some precious time on the clock. Watch the video to find out how they fared – and who ended up on the virtual podium!
