Due to the continued spread of the coronavirus around the world, Season Six of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship was temporarily suspended in mid-March. All subsequent races planned after mid-March were thus cancelled or postponed to a later date.

The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, the governing body for Formula E) recently announced plans for holding the remaining races in Season Six. To conclude the season, six races will be held at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin in August behind closed doors, consolidated into three double-headers. The provisional calendar for Formula E Season Seven was also announced last week.

While we’re eager to see the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team get back to the track in August, our partnership with the Team hasn’t disappeared – for us it’s about more than racing.

Accelerating the energy transition will only become more critical going forward, particularly as society begins to confront a post-coronavirus reality. Therefore, it’s more important than ever before to find new ways to electrify entire areas of society.

At Vestas, we want to lead that transition. To do so successfully, we need to position ourselves as the global leader within sustainable energy and continuously innovate to remain a technology leader. Our partnership with the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team is a key part of that. That’s why we’re still collaborating on a host of leads with the Team, investigating areas where we can innovate together, and challenging each other to improve our respective solutions and technologies. Stay tuned to learn more as we prepare to wrap up the Season.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Team get back to racing in the near future. In the meantime, we’re as proud as ever to be partnered with the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team in order to move the electrification of our industries forward together.
