The Berlin E-Prix is filled with positive memories for Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team, as it is where they achieved their first-ever one-two in last year’s season finale. As we approach Round 14, the Team are sitting in second place in the Team Standings, with a gap of just 2 points to the next challenging team. It is really a case of anything can happen this weekend, with every point scored holding the potential to make all the difference in the final order. In the Driver Standings, Nyck de Vries holds a 6-point lead, but it is still mathematically possible for 18 drivers to claim that trophy. Whilst Stoffel Vandoorne falls further down the order in thirteenth, there are still only 32 points holding him back from the top spot.

Ahead of the race weekend, both Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team drivers are feeling confident to tackle the final double-header of the year. Stoffel Vandoorne commented on his chances ahead of the race: “I’m a little bit down the running, so my task will definitely not be easy, but I’ve got nothing to lose and can only gain, which is why I’m going into the weekend with an open mind and a clear head, hoping to post two good results.” His teammate, Nyck de Vries, has also set his sights on keeping the top spot, commenting: “I can’t wait to see whether we can come out on top in the world championship ultimately.”

The return to Berlin’s 2.4km Tempelhof street circuit will see two different track configurations across the weekend. The race also brings with it a return of fans and there are more than 10,000 grandstand seats available to watch the action live. It is a track where race strategy and energy management will play a vital role and any mistake could make all the difference to final outcomes. Current forecasts for Saturday’s race predict the warm weather will continue, with an expected 24.14 degrees ambient temperature and a relative humidity of 50%, heating up the already red-hot stakes of the season finale.
