The stage is set for Round 7 of ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Season 7 to be an exciting one, following six rounds of truly unpredictable racing so far this year. The drivers will be battling on the streets of the principality for the fourth Monaco E-Prix, before the season breaks for six weeks and returns in Mexico next month.
The Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team are currently leading both the Driver and Team Standings, with another win for Nyck de Vries and a podium finish for Stoffel Vandoorne in the Valencia E-Prix less than 2 weeks ago. Team energy management and unexpected conditions on track have been huge factors in the first six races of the season, and something the Team will be carefully considering in the run-up to the race. With 19 corners and 75% of lap time spent at full throttle, the track at Monaco will be configured with the full-circuit for the first time in electric history. Stoffel commented on the configuration: “We will be driving on the full Grand Prix circuit. This should make the energy management more balanced and the racing more exciting because there are better overtaking opportunities.”
Meteorologists at Vestas have predicted conditions on Saturday to be sunny and dry, with a light wind. Nyck shared his thoughts ahead of the race and reflected on the season so far, where changing conditions have played a pivotal role, “a fortnight ago, we had a solid and rewarding weekend in Valencia, where I was able to take my second win of the season. Now I hope we can have an unblemished weekend in Monaco and rack up more points.”
