Formula E Season 7 electrifies again in Valencia, with another set of double-header races at the FIA Formula E testing track, Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
Season 7 is well and truly underway with the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team off to a flying start. The electric Silver Arrow 02’s are sitting strong in second place in the Team Standings with two race wins under their belt already, from Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne in Rounds 1 and 4 respectively.
These early wins have propelled the two Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team competitors up the Driver Standings of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, with Stoffel in fourth and Nyck in fifth.
In Rome, less than two weeks ago, the weather was a decisive factor in race outcomes, with the unpredictability on track truly being put to the test. The familiar setting of the Spanish circuit will undoubtedly be challenging as drivers face a series of tight corners and short straights. Stoffel commented on the new race circuit: “The Valencia circuit is very different to the one we raced on in Rome. In fact, it’s almost the complete opposite. Rome was a narrow, bumpy street circuit while Valencia is a permanent circuit that has been slightly modified to be a little more twisty and better-suited to Formula E.”
Conditions this weekend are expected to be dry for the most part with fairly high humidity. Nyck also shared his thoughts ahead of the race and was focused on the weather: “I hope that the weather in Europe will be a bit better and not quite as unpredictable as it has been recently.”
