There have been six different winners across seven rounds of racing so far, with energy management and rapidly changing weather proving to be crucial factors in influencing race outcomes. Heading into Round 8, the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team are currently first in the Team Standings, leading the pack by two points and doing everything in their power to hold onto their lead. Drivers Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne sit in second and sixth place in the Drivers’ Standings respectively, and with just 14 points separating the top six, these two rounds of racing have the potential to make all the difference!

The races this weekend will be held at the Autodromo Miguel E. Abed, with the track making its debut on the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship calendar, following the five previous E-Prix in Mexico City. As always, the Team will face challenges in racing in unchartered territory, with no previous data to turn to. The high-altitude conditions (Puebla sits at 2,200 metres above sea level) promise to provide an exciting backdrop and the Team will work hard in the runup to the races to get to grips with the track.

It’s currently the peak of the rainy season in Mexico, meaning there might be one or two surprises in store for the upcoming races. Meteorologists at Vestas have predicted an ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity for this race weekend, which suggests conditions could get a little muggy for the drivers in the cockpits. One factor, however, is guaranteed, which is the return of fans to the grandstands! Nowhere brings quite the levels of passion and enthusiasm as we’ve seen from spectators in Mexico in the past, meaning the Team should be able to count on some extra special support.
