Round 6:

Stoffel got off to a strong start in Saturday morning qualifying, setting the fastest time in his group and narrowly missing out on the final round, starting the race in P4 on the grid. Nyck also showed impressive form in the early stages, but he was eliminated from the running in the quarter-finals and began the race in P8.

It was a well-executed drive from the outset for Stoffel, establishing himself as a front-runner in the early stages of the race and working his way forward to the front just before a period of full-course yellow flags. He maintained this position all the way to the finish line to claim the coveted victory. Nyck moved up one position immediately after the start of the race and battled throughout to claim valuable points for the team and finish the E-Prix in tenth place. Ultimately, the weekend was a resounding success for the team and one they’re sure not to be forgetting in a long time!

Season 8:

Saturday’s race was the second win of the season for the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team, and their sixth win overall in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Stoffel now leads the Drivers’ World Championship by six points and the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team lead the Team Championship by fifteen points.

After the Rome E-Prix, Team Principal Ian James spoke of his delight at the success in Monaco and what the victory means for not only Stoffel, but the whole Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team: “Wow. What a race that was: a win for the team in Monaco! Monaco hasn’t been too kind to us in the past. Especially after the disappointment of last year we came here with a real determination to turn things around. We did that probably in the best way possible: winning the race with Stoffel. This will be a great memory for the whole team – and something he personally will for sure remember for the rest of his life.”

All eyes now turn to Berlin in less than two weeks’ time, where the team will be hoping to continue their point-scoring streak in the double-header race!
